Third Annual Cape Ann Triumph Tour by Pam Delis

On May 31st, Mother Nature did not cooperate with the Cape Ann Tour. Thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall caused the trip to be rescheduled to the following day. Unfortunately not all who had planned to attend were able to make time on Sunday to join the tour. But for those whose schedules permitted the Cape Ann Tour couldn’t have been nicer.

On June 1, 2008, the Triumph club enjoyed the 3rd annual Cape Ann Tour. The warm sunny weather and beautiful scenery made for a great outing. The club met in Gloucester right off Route 128. Present were Alex and Pam Delis in their 1976 TR6, Tom Walling and Wendy Rose in their 1972 TR6, Hugh and Caroline Cockrill in their 1959 TR3A, and Craig and Cal Harms in their 1966 TR4A. With the tour organizer, Alex Delis, leading the way, the group wound its way past Gloucester’s Inner Harbor and continued into East Gloucester passing by the Rocky Neck Artist Colony and on by Niles Beach with its picturesque views of the outer harbor with distant views of the Boston skyline. The tour continued down the "Back Shore" with its magnificent rocky coastline then on into the southern end of Rockport.

Once in Rockport the tour enjoyed the sights of quaint shops, tourists and old New England architecture as it made its way past Bearskin Neck, Back Beach and Pigeon Cove. The beautiful gardens and open sea vistas were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Continuing on into northernmost Gloucester, the tour drove through the little village of Lanesville, by Annisquam, through Riverdale and on down to "the Boulevard" with its famous Gloucester Fisherman Statue. After a trip through Stage Fort Park it was on into Magnolia and Manchester-by-the-Sea. The trip back took the group through the "country-side" vistas of Essex and back through the heavily wooded area of West Gloucester.

The tour finished at the Lobsta’ Land Restaurant where the food was delicious and the conversation lively.
